Schwarzman Scholars Program

We are pleased to have Peter Raucci, Global Scholarship Programs, Institute of International Education (IIE), visiting the UW-Seattle Campus to provide information about the new Schwarzman Scholars Program on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.

 

Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, the Schwarzman Scholars Program is designed to prepared the next generation of global leaders and to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st century and beyond. The Schwarzman Scholars Program will support 200 scholars annually from the U.S., China and around the world for a one-year Master’s Degree program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, one of China’s most prestigious universities and an indispensable base for the country’s scientific and technological research.

 

Interested candidates will participate in a rigorous and thorough selection process, designed to identify the most promising young leaders from around the world.  Selected candidates will pursue degrees in one of three disciplines:

  • Public Policy
  • Economics and Business
  • International Studies

For those ready to make their mark on the world, the Schwarzman Scholarship Program represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Applications open in April 2015.  The inaugural class will begin July 2016 at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.

About Schwarzman Scholarship Program:

Designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders, Schwarzman Scholars is the first scholarship created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st Century. Whether in politics, business or science, the success of future leaders around the world will depend upon an understanding of China’s role in global trends.

Enrolling the inaugural class in 2016, the program will give the world’s best and brightest students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills through a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing – one of China’s most prestigious universities.

Students will live and study together on the campus of Schwarzman College, a newly-built, state-of-the-art facility, where all classes will be taught in English. Students will pursue degrees in one of three disciplines:

Students will spend a year immersed in an international community of thinkers, innovators and senior leaders in business, politics and society.
