NELC Department LogoThis is an introductory course to Modern Turkish. Through this series, you will develop a basic level of proficiency in Turkish, in the skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. You will also discover a new culture as you are introduced to Turkey and the Turkish language. Turkish is a non-Indo-European language; however since it uses the same alphabet as English, Turkish is the most accessible of Middle Eastern languages for English speakers. Turkish is spoken as a first language by over 77 million people worldwide, making it the most commonly spoken of the Turkic languages.
